Generalized separation of variables for nonlinear wave equations

Abstract:
A generalized procedure of separation of variables is proposed. It is applied to nonlinear wave equations. As a result, we construct wide classes of exact solutions of these equations, which cannot be obtained by means of the classical Lie method and the conditional symmetry method.
