On October 25, 2024, at the Solemn General Meeting of the Workers' Collective on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which took place in the Conference Hall of the Institute, with the participation of the President of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Anatolii ZAHORODNIY, Vice-President of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Vyacheslav BOGDANOV, and Acting Chairman of the Trade Union of the NAS of Ukraine Viktor STOLYAROV, the employees of the Department were awarded: Anatolii ROMANYUK - Award of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine "For the preparation of scientific change", Andriy SHYDLICH - with the Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Central Committee of the Trade Union of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Anatolii SERDIUK - Award Trade Union of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine "For trade union activity".


On September 17, 2024, Senior Researcher of the Department of the Theory of Function Sergii YANCHENKO successfully defended Doctoral Dissertation «Extremal Problems of the Theory of Approximations of Classes of Smooth Functions of One and Many Variables» (defenses). Scientific advisor - Doctor of Sciences, Professor Anatolii ROMANYUK. Official opponents - Doctor of Sciences, Professor Serhiy VAKARCHUK, Doctor of Sciences, Professor Nataliya PARFINOVYCH and Doctor of Sciences, Professor Oleh SKASKIV.


Kateryna POZHARSKA received the prestigious international mathematics prize "Joseph F. Traub Information-Based Complexity Young Researcher Award 2023" for her significant contribution to the theory of information complexity. The prize is awarded annually to only one mathematician under the age of 35.


On December 16, 2021, by Decree of the President of Ukraine No.659/2021, Sergii YANCHENKO, Kateryna POZHARSKA, and Tetyana STEPANIUK were awarded the 2021 Prize of the President of Ukraine for Young Scientists for their work «Extremal Problems of Approximation of Classes of Functions of One and Many Variables».


On December 30, 2020, by Decree of the President of Ukraine No.608/2020, Anatolii ROMANYUK, as part of the author's team, was awarded of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology from 2020 for work «Analytical Methods of Function Theory and Applications».


On January 29, 2019 Kateryna POZHARSKA had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Best approximations and entropy numbers of the classes of periodic multivariate functions" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences Professor Anatolii ROMANYUK. Official opponents were Doctor of Sciences, Professor Petro ZADEREI and Doctor of Sciences Stanislav CHAICHENKO.


On May 22, 2018 Hanna VLASIK had successfully defended Kandidate Dissertation "Estimates of norms for trigonometric polynomials and widths of classes of (ψ,β)-differentiable functions" under supervision of Doctor of Sciences Professor Anatolii ROMANYUK>. Official opponents were Doctor of Sciences Stanislav CHAICHENKO and Kandidate of Sciences Andriy MUSIYENKO.


On April 17, 2018, Viktor ROMANYUK had successfully defended Doctor Dissertation "Methods and characteristics of linear and nonlinear approximation of classes of smooth functions". Scientific adviser - Doctor of Sciences, Professor Anatolii ROMANYUK. Official opponents - Doctor of Sciences, Professor Serhiy VAKARCHUK, Doctor of Sciences, Professor Oleh SKASKIV and Doctor of Sciences, Professor Ihor SHEVCHUK.



On September 29, 2017 Andriy SHIDLICH had successfully defended Doctor Dissertation "Extremal Problems of Approximation Theory in Functional Spaces". Scientific adviser - Doctor of Sciences Viktor SAVCHUK. Official opponents - Doctor of Sciences, Professor Serhiy VAKARCHUK, Doctor of Sciences, Professor Petro ZADEREI and Doctor of Sciences, Professor Volodymyr KOFANOV.
